Usage alerts

Overview

Usage alerts are email notifications that help you stay informed about your consumption across Contentful products so you can take action before unexpected overage charges occur. The alerts are enabled by default, so no setup is required.

Important: Usage alerts are only sent to organization owners and admins. 

We send usage alerts for the following:

  • Asset bandwidth

  • API calls

  • Functions

  • AI Actions

How they work

When your organization reaches a specific, pre-defined threshold, an alert is automatically triggered, and an email notification is sent.

Limitations

  • Custom thresholds are currently not supported.

  • The usage alerts are delivered via email only. Other channels are not supported.

    NOTE: For Free plan users, a banner is also displayed in the web app.

  • Recipient customization is not available.

Usage alerts for asset bandwidth 

The alerts are triggered automatically when usage reaches 50%, 75%, 85%, and 100% of your included asset bandwidth. Usage is evaluated once a day.

Important: For Free plan users, once you have reached the included asset bandwidth limit (50 GB per month), the delivery API (CDA, GQL and CPA) will be blocked until the end of the current month. As a result, you won’t be able to deliver new content until the end of the current month, or until you upgrade your plan.

Usage alerts for API calls

The alerts are triggered automatically when usage reaches 50%, 75%, 90% and 100% of your monthly quota. Usage is evaluated once a day.

Important: For Free plan users, once you have reached the included API calls limit (100,000 per month), the delivery API (CDA, GQL and CPA) will be blocked until the end of the current month. As a result, you won't be able to deliver new content until the end of the current month, or until you upgrade your plan.

Usage alerts for Functions

The alerts are triggered automatically when usage reaches 50%, 75%, and 100% of your monthly quota. Usage is evaluated once a day. 

Usage alerts for AI Actions

The alerts are triggered automatically when usage reaches 50%, 75%, and 100% consumption of your included AI Actions allowance. Usage is evaluated once per hour.
